MC Romaguera Studio is home to artist Mary Catherine Romaguera Minvielle. A native of New Orleans, La., Mary Catherine’s local upbringing is visible in her youthful approach to painting. Her vibrant use of color and expressive subjects captures the distinctive Southern lifestyle. Mary Catherine’s preferred medium is acrylic on canvas. She is most known for her paintings titled “Crawfish Hearts.”
Mary Catherine began painting at an early age; receiving watercolor lessons at age 4 from her grandmother and New Orleans artist, Lee P. Romaguera. Her oil painting lessons began at age 7. At age 10, Mary Catherine was diagnosed with a visual learning disability which she later credited for strengthening her visual communication skills through works of art. Mary Catherine received formal training in interior design, historic preservation, and architectural rendering from Savannah College of Art and Design and Louisiana State University.
When she is not painting, Mary Catherine enjoys enjoys fishing, swimming, and playing with her dog: Julep!
